The Royal Enfield Classic 350 now carries a roar of a story which is a blend of an ancient story with the modern theatrics which cuts across many age rides. The Classic 350 is prevalent for the roar of “dug dug” paired with the retro aesthetic iconic from the rough Royal Enfield bikes which has offered Royal Enfield an image of a stride rough and ready bike. Moreover, in 2009, it became a target of adoration of many owing to the rough and free energy that it represented and in 2024, Royal Enfield took efforts to modify them for a more competitive modern stance. We shall further discuss how in 2024, The Classic 350 was ‘updated’ to a modern classic.
The Trademark Inspiration
The Classic 350 reserves the outline of Royal Enfield’s post World War II G2 bike, a design which shall remain evergreen. The rounded chrome trimmed fenders give the bike a retro roadster which is thus nostalgic. Along with enhancing the overall visibility of the bike, the 2024 update is bringing 7 more addons of colour including Jodhpur Blue and Madras Red. Moreover, the signature teardrop bike tank, auxiliary contour bump and chromium embellishments paired with the new proposed colours shall uplift the appeal of the bike even more while the new addition to the Stealth Black version of alloy wheels brings a dash of the modern touch.
Refined Performance
Beneath the retro exterior lies a 349cc single-cylinder, air-oil cooled engine. With an output of 20.2 bhp at 6,100 rpm and torque of 27 Nm at 4,000 rpm, it performs effortlessly and smoothly. Its five-speed gearbox provides quick and effortless changes, making it ideal for city commutes and highway cruising. Although the engine has not changed from earlier models, the generous low-end torque provides effortless overtaking, making it suitable for all riding conditions.
Modern Features, Classic Soul
While the 2024 Classic 350 remains true to its scooter roots, it has incorporated modern features. All variants now come with the LED headlight, a definite modern upgrade with improved visibility. Visibility from the scooter has also been improved with the addition of tail lamps, as well as the pilot lights, with some models also featuring LED turn indicators. The brake and clutch levers are now catered towards rider ergonomics for a wider range of rider shapes and sizes. The retro charm is still retained with the semi-digital console, adding a retro touch with the modern practicality of a gear position indicator.
Enhanced Safety And Comfort
Safety is improved with dual-channel ABS as standard, ensuring confident braking. The bike’s cradle-type frame, paired with a 41 mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers, provides stability. Urban rides, however, can feel stiff. For long rides, optional touring seats provide comfort with a firmer feel. To keep with modern devices, a USB Type-C port under the handlebar provides charging access.
Pricing And Variants
The ex-showroom price of the Classic 350 starts from ₹1.93 lakh to ₹2.35 lakh, maintaining value in the market. It offers seven variants for different tastes: Reddit, Halcyon, Heritage, Heritage Premium, Signals, Dark, and Chrome. There is also The Goan Classic 350, a bobber style variant priced at ₹2.37 lakh which offers custom styling with ape-handlebars and whitewall tyres.
